Timeline (all major events should be included)

1990-1991:Croatia and Slovenia declare their independence from the Yugoslav Federated Republic. In Croatia ethnic Serbs and Croats begin a long, bloody conflict. UN imposes arms embargo on all members of the former Yugoslav Republic, including Bosnia.

April 1992 -- The United States and European countries noticed the automony of Bosnia, mainly a Muslim country but also consisting of 32% of Serbs. In revolt against this declaration, the Serbs attacked Bosnia's capital, Sarajevo, killing residents specifically over 3,500 children and about the range of 200,000 deaths.

May 1992: The West recognizes Bosnia-Herzegovina as an independent state. A mortar shell fired from a Serb position in the hills of Sarajevo kills 16 people waiting in line for bread. UN imposes sanctions on Serb-led Yugoslavia.

1992-1993: Many cease fires are broken. Vance-Owen peace treaty is first accepted by Milosevic and Karadzic, then rejected by the Bosnian Serb Parliament. Other peace treaties based on dividing Bosnia along ethnic lines are negotiated, rejected, then renegotiated. Croatians, originally fighting with the Muslims against the Serbs, start their own "ethnic cleansing" campaign.

1993 -- Throughout this particular year, the ruthless Serbs finally knew that no one would come to the Muslims' aid and continued their "ethnic cleansing" without any hesitation. They were under the power of Radovan Karadzic, president of the illegal Bosnian Serb Republic. 

January 1994: France, which has the most UN troops in Bosnia, calls for NATO to use air strikes to relieve the humanitarian crisis in Bosnia. French philosopher, Bernard-Henri Levi, and other intellectuals start a party "Europe Begins at Sarajevo", for the elections for the European Parliament. The party's only platform is that Europe's humanity and civility is challenged by its inactivity in the Bosnia crisis.

February 6, 1994 -- When a Serb mortar shell entered the Sarajevo marketplace murdering 68 people and injuring over 200 other residents, the world's eyes had opened. The international media broadcasted this horrendous tragedy and planned to send military against these Serbs.

March 1994 Muslims and Croats in Bosnia signed an agreement creating the federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Summer 1994: Bosnian Government army makes successful advances against separatist Serbs, recapturing some of the territory around Bihac, in Bosnia's North-East corner.

July 1995: Serb troops under general Ratko Mladić, occupied the UN "safe area" of Srebrenica in eastern Bosnia where around 8,000 men were killed (most women were expelled to Bosniak-held territory and some of them were killed and raped)

August 30, 1995 -- The military planned to be sent back in February finally arrived on this date. They led an NATO bombing campaign aiming for Serbian weaponry areas in Bosnia  and continued until October.

December 14 1995-- Dayton peace agreement signed in Paris

What Happened?

How did it end? It was ended by the Dayton peace agreement on November 21 1995 but signed in Paris December 14 1995

What happened to those responsible? "Serb forces also lost ground to Bosnian Muslims who had received arms shipments from the Islamic world. After three weeks of negotiations, a peace accord was declared. Terms of the agreement included partitioning Bosnia into two main portions known as the Bosnian Serb Republic and the Muslim-Croat Federation. The agreement also called for democratic elections and stipulated that war criminals would be handed over for prosecution. 60,000 NATO soldiers were deployed to preserve the cease-fire."

What happened to those who were attacked?
Many of the ones who were attacked were killed and some survived mainly women and some children

Is it a "recognized" genocide?
Yes it is a recognized genocide
